Ascot's Participation at the 2009 OWA Conference
Our Company Ascot participated at the recent Offshore West Africa Conference (OWA) Abuja from the 27th to the 29th of January 2009.

Visitors at our booth included the Honourable Minister of State for Petroleum– Mr. Odein Ajumogobia (SAN), The Special Adviser to the President on Petroleum Matters – Dr. Emmanuel Egbogah, The new Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) - Mr. M.A. Barkindo and their entourage. Other visitors at our booth included the Managing Director of the Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company (SNEPCO) – Mr. Chike Onyejekwe; and top management of other Exploration & Production companies.

Our Business Development Director, Joey Obue was on hand to receive a good number of guests at our booth.

As we continue to sensitise the general public about our new brand, it was a good opportunity to further strengthen the Ascot brand in an audience of oil and gas industry professionals. In the words of the Honourable Minister of State for Petroleum – “Ascot is the kind of indigenous company we are looking for”. We showcased our company infrastructure, capabilities and assets to other oil and gas companies engaged in offshore infrastructure in West Africa. Industry professionals as well as members of the press were extremely happy with our recent change of corporate identity.

Our participation at the 2009 edition of the OWA conference was a good opportunity to showcase the new Ascot brand.

EGP3a Update
We would like to update you on progress we have made so far on Chevron’s EGP3a Project in Escravos, Delta State.

You will recall that upon our return to work in the Escravos field in late 2007, Our Ascot Warri 1 (Dredge 85) Ughelli V (Brady 3) and Amal 2 (UB113) were employed to dredge a houseboat slot and flotation ditches with pipe trenches inset as a precursor to onshore pipelay work on the project. Ascot is now in the process of commencing the onshore and offshore pull pipelay portion of the EGP3a Project; our convoy arrived and docked at the houseboat slot and the flotation ditch in Escravos at 1200hrs on the 10th of February 2009 to commence piplelay work on the 14 kilometre stretch of onshore pipeline.
Again, we have achieved this feat without a Lost Time Accident which has further boosted our safety record.

Our Ascot Brass 1 (WB 82) is employed for this work.
We will endeavour to keep you abreast of further developments.

The pipelay scope in this contract involves about a hundred kilometer stretch of land area pipe-lay work.  NAOP has issued a Call off for the Obiafo SW to Ob/Ob gas plant with a completion of 26km pipelay work.  We now await the start of this Call off and for NAOP to issue further Call-off Orders.
We will keep you updated on further progress.

Ascot's Participation at the 2008 NI Conference
Our Company Ascot participated at the recent Nigeria Infrastructure Conference (NI) Abuja from the 2nd to the 4th of December 2008.
It was an excellent outing for the company because it was our first opportunity to launch our new brand to a wider audience of industry professionals. We were able to showcase our capabilities to other companies engaged in the provision of various infrastructure in Nigeria; it was also an opportunity prove that we are still very much on stream and waxing stronger in our areas of expertise in Nigeria and in West Africa.
Visitors at our booth included the Honourable Minister for Transport – Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke and her entourage. We also witnessed a turnout of other companies in the infrastructure business on Nigerian soil namely: the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Julius Berger (JB), Jagal, Dantata & Sawoe and Nigerian Distinguished Senators as well as Honourable Members of the National House of Assembly. We also had the Director of the Nigerian Investment Promotion Council (NIPC) – Mrs. Yinka Fayomi visit our booth.

Our COO, Steve Judd gave a paper titled: ‘The role of infrastructure in Nigeria’s future’ at the conference. We also hosted a gala dinner on day 1 of the conference where we showcased what the new Ascot is all about; the dinner was a well attended event. It is hoped that we will get some leverage for the National Gas Master Plan project from our participation in this conference.

In all, our participation at the NI was a good opportunity to showcase who and what Ascot stands for post our re-branding programme.

Completion of the Addax 14" Pipeline Contract
We are pleased to announce that on the 30th of September, 2008, Ascot completed the 15 kilometre offshore 14” pipelay work for the Addax OML 123 field offshore Calabar in Cross River State. Our Ascot 318 was employed in a Lumpsum Contract to undertake the work. This work was performed during the wet season in treacherous weather and offshore terrain. Immediately after the Pipelay, we have started the pulling of two pipeline spools with a length of nearly 234m each.

We are also pleased to note this work was performed without Lost Time Injury (LTI) to our staff and crew.

We congratulate the Ascot 318 crew as well as everyone that worked hard to ensure the efficient and safe completion of both projects.

Update on Bayelsa-Amassoma Land Reclamation Project
We are pleased to announce that on the 27th of September, 2008 our Ascot Kitty Bean Suction Dredge clocked the pumping of 1 million cubic metres of sand at the Niger Delta University (NDU) Site in Amassoma, Bayelsa State. We achieved this feat without Lost Time Injury (LTI) and this has further boosted our Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) record.

It will be recalled that Ascot commenced the Bayelsa-Amassoma land reclamation project on the 29th of April, 2008 for the Bayelsa State Government. The scope of work involves the dredging of 3.45 million cubic meters of sand from the nearby creek bed to sand-fill an area of approximately 210 hectares to a height of 1.0m.

As a flagship project for the Bayelsa State, Government, we are rightly proud to be part of it.
